Death of Tigres president after Colombian team's home defeat

The 63-year-old was slain by two individuals on a motorbike close to the stadium as he and his daughter were driving home from the 3-2 home defeat to Atletico FC.

Edgar Paez, the president of Tigres FC of Colombia's second division, was fatally murdered after his team lost on Saturday, according to the club.

The 63-year-old was slain by two individuals on a motorbike close to the stadium as he and his daughter were driving home from the 3-2 home defeat to Atletico FC.

Authorities are looking into the murder while his daughter managed to flee uninjured.
The club released a statement saying, "The Tigres family and the sporting community are grieved by this occurrence.
His dedication to the team and the growth of the sport in our area left a lasting impression on everyone who had the honour of knowing him.

The head of the organisation that oversees the professional leagues, Colombia's Major Division of Professional Football (DIMAYOR), Fernando Jaramillo, expressed his sorrow at Paez's passing.

"He was always distinguished by his respect for his friends, by his strong but respectful positions, and by the love he professed for the sport that we are all passionate about: football," Jaramillo said.

In the following two rounds of games, there will be a moment of silence in memory of Paez.
