India jumped out to an early lead in the competition by recording greater scores in the first four series. Korea opened its account with a 10.9 from Park Hajun, bringing the score to 8-0.
The teams drew the ensuing series, and after India had a 9-3 lead, Korea appeared to have found fresh life as it pulled even.
India increased its lead until it was 15-11 and needed just one more point to win (Korea: 20.7, India: 21.2). The match was, however, far from done.
Prior to squaring the scores at 16-16 with shots worth 21.0 each, Korea won the following two series.
It ultimately took three more series and a coaches' timeout to reach a decision after the games entered the deciders.
