In their second Pool A encounter, the Indian men's hockey team defeated Singapore 16-1 on Tuesday at the Gongshu Canal Sports Park Stadium in Hangzhou, China.

With this victory, India, who has three times won the Asian Games men's hockey Pool A championship, solidified their lead in the standings. The top two finishers in each pool progress to the semifinals. In contrast to Singapore, which lost to Pakistan 11-0 in their opening game, the third-ranked Indian men's hockey team trounced Uzbekistan with a convincing 16-0 victory.
With legendary captain Harmanpreet Singh back in the lineup after missing the Uzbekistan match, India immediately went on the offensive, forcing Singapore, ranked No. 49 in the world, to defend in depth. India kept moving into the opposing half and made a field goal to start the scoring.
Mandeep Singh deflected a pass from Gurjant Singh to win the game. At the completion of the opening period, India had a 1-0 lead. Only a few minutes into the second quarter, India extended its lead. Sukhjeet passed to an advancing Lalit Upadhyay after dribbling into the Singaporean half, and Upadhyay scored to give India a 2-0 lead.
