At MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Indian fast bowlers Mohammad Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, and Hardik Pandya tested the batters with match simulation field settings.
In the side nets for about 30 minutes, KL Rahul solely performed sweeps, reverse sweeps, and slog hits during India's practise on Thursday in preparation for their opening match against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium. Shreyas Iyer was subjected to a bombardment of short balls.
Rahul only tried to play attacking strokes when he took throwdowns, twice in the space of 15 minutes, which frequently forced the bowlers to take evasive measures to prevent any worries.
Iyer's practise session was mainly concerned with honing his control of short balls.
He began working on his pull and hook shots with Dravid using a racquet and a few tennis balls to replicate steep bounce after hitting regularly in the nets. He took a 15-minute break and played with the dog who had inadvertently wandered into the training area.
After his second break, Iyer once more suited up for a fast hit against throwdown experts Raghu (right arm), Dayanand Garani (right arm), and Nuwan Seneviratne (left arm), before deciding to leave.
Despite the oppressively hot weather during the afternoon practise session, which lasted nearly three and a half hours, the intensity was strong among all the batters.
