Lamine Yamal, a 16-year-old Barcelona player, set a new record on Sunday when he scored the league's youngest goal during Barcelona's 2-2 draw at Granada.

Fabrice Olinga, a player for Malaga, who scored against Celta Vigo in 2012 at the age of 16 years, 98 days, was exceeded by Yamal at the age of 16 years, 87 days.

In first-half stoppage time, Yamal pushed a loose ball into an empty net to register his 1,000th goal.

He had already made his league debut and Champions League debut as the league's youngest player. Yamal also holds the record from the previous season for being the youngest player for Barcelona. After entering the game last month as a substitute, he became the youngest scorer in a European Championship qualifier.

We give a player the chance when we see that he can benefit the squad, stated Barcelona coach Xavi. "Lamine is greatly assisting us and changing things. He made a significant goal.

After Bryan Zaragoza gave the hosts a 2-0 lead with two goals in the first half-hour, including one less than 20 seconds into the game at Los Carmenes Stadium, Yamal's goal assisted Barcelona in getting closer. After a couple of deft manoeuvres to clear a defender inside the area, he scored his second goal in the 29th minute.

Barcelona nearly came away with the victory when Joo Félix scored in injury time, but the goal was reversed due to an offside by Ferran Torres. Sergi Roberto tied the score in the 85th minute for Barcelona.

As a result, Barcelona, the incumbent champion, is now in third place, two points behind rival Real Madrid and one point behind neighbouring Catalan club Girona. Saturday's winners were Madrid and Girona.

Due to an injury, Robert Lewandowski couldn't play for Barcelona. Fermin Lopez, a midfielder for the Catalan club, made his professional debut at the age of 20.

Just before halftime, Barcelona lost defender Jules Koundé to an injury.

It was Granada's third consecutive tie, keeping it in second-to-last place.
