Asian Games 2023: In the women's 25m pistol precision qualification round on Tuesday, September 26 in Hangzhou, Manu Bhaker led a commanding performance for India
On Tuesday, September 26, India made a strong start for themselves in the women's 25m pistol team competition at the Asian Games in Hangzhou. At the city's shooting range, Manu Bhaker won the precision singles qualification, while Manu, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan also won the precision team qualification.
Manu Bhaker shot 99, 97, and 98 in the precision round to finish with 294 points in the three series for the women's 25m pistol.
Feng Sixuan of China fired 292 to place second with a string of 96, 98, 98. India's Esha Singh came in third with a score of 292 with a string of 96, 98, 98. Rhythm Sangwan placed 11th out of 43 women on the qualification list with 290 points in the fiercely contested women's 25m pistol accuracy qualification.
India finished the qualification phase with a total of 876 points, while China came in second with 874. Taiwan received 868 points, placing third. Notably, in August-September in Baku, the trio of Manu, Esha, and Rhythm took home the Gold medal at the ISSF World Cup.
On September 27, Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan will compete in the women's 25m rapid qualifier, which also counts as a medal event for the team. When awarding medals, the combined score from the precise and quick events will be taken into account.
