Shelton and Cerundolo win the opening games for Team World

 As Team World gained an early advantage, Shelton defeated Arthur Fils 7-6 (4), 6-1, and Cerundolo added to it by defeating Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina 6-3, 7-5.






With victories at the Laver Cup from Ben Shelton and Francisco Cerundolo, Team World made it two wins in a row on Friday.

At the Laver Cup tennis competition, Shelton beat Arthur Fils 7-6 (4), 6-1, giving Team World an early lead over Team Europe.

Cerundolo enhanced to it by defeating Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina 6-3, 7-5 to give Team World their second victory of the competition.
“I thought it was a great match. Quite high level right off the bat," he remarked.

In his encounter against Davidovich-Fokina, Cerundolo served four aces and flourished, although he continually battled to defeat his European opponent.

With Shelton's victory, Team World won the Laver Cup's inaugural game for the first time ever.

Gael Monfils, a French veteran, and Felix Auger-Aliassime, a Canadian, competed in the third match of the day.
