Leander Paes: My induction into the International Tennis Hall of Fame is a tribute to all of my supporters.

One of the six candidates named for the Class of 2024 was Paes. In the Player Category, he will face off against Ana Ivanovic, Carlos Moya, Flavia Pennetta, Cara Black, and Daniel Nestor.

Leander Paes displays his emotions openly. The Indian tennis legend, who just a few days ago became the first Asian man to be nominated for the International Tennis Hall of Fame in the player category, feels that this nomination is a tribute to everyone who helped him throughout his 30-year career.

One of the six nominees for the Class of 2024 was the multiple Grand Slam winner. In the Player Category, he will face off against Ana Ivanovic, Carlos Moya, Flavia Pennetta, Cara Black, and Daniel Nestor.

It's interesting to note that throughout his long and successful career, Paes won multiple championships, including the Australian Open, in the doubles and mixed doubles categories alongside Black and Nestor.

The 2019 Australian Open and French Open women's singles champion Li Na of China became the first Asian nominee for the International Tennis Hall of Fame. But now that Peas is a nominee, it's a significant time for Asian and Indian tennis.

As Paes tells Sportstar, "It is such a humbling feeling to be recognised by the preeminent body of world tennis for the three decades of passion and dedication I put into our sport and representing my country."

In addition to being a former world No. 1 in doubles, Paes won 18 Grand Slam titles in doubles and mixed doubles. "Most of what I have accomplished in my career has been done primarily to motivate others and promote India on a worldwide scale. My efforts also shown to the world that we are capable of achieving anything we set our minds to, adds Paes.

"I feel so fortunate to have a parent who is so supportive, as well as siblings and a daughter. Through their encouragement and inspiration, the coaches, trainers, Davis Cup captains, and countless other well-wishers have all had a significant impact on my career. This nomination is for everyone who has helped me along the way. It would be fantastic.
