Indian swimmers are again performing poorly at the Asian Games.


 At the Asian Games, India's swimmers have struggled, as none of them have advanced to the finals in their respective events. Athletes who showed promise including Maana Patel, Nina Venkatesh, Srihari Nataraj, and Lineysha all failed to place in the top eight, ending their prospects of winning medals.

At the Asian Games here on Wednesday, Indian swimmers continued to fall short in the water as none of them managed to advance to the finals of their respective disciplines.


Olympian Maana Patel was fifth in heat three and thirteenth overall with a time of 1:03.55s, so she was unable to advance to the women's 100-meter backstroke final.

Nina Venkatesh of India had a dismal performance as well, finishing fourth in her heat and 14th overall with a time of 1:03.89s to exit the women's 100m butterfly.

The top eight swimmers advanced to the championship round. Srihari Nataraj then finished 10th in the men's 200 m freestyle heats with a time of 1:49.05 seconds. He will serve as the second reserve for the grand finale.

India's Lineysha, who was competing in the women's 100m breaststroke, finished sixth in her heat with a time of 1:15.60s and was unable to advance to the medal round.
