In their opening Pool B encounter, the women's team defeated Pakistan 3-0 under the leadership of Tanvi Khanna, Joshna Chinappa, and 15-year-old Anahat Singh. In the opening singles match, Anahat defeated Sadia Gul 11-6, 11-6, and 11-3 in 16 minutes.
In her opening match of her sixth Asian Games, Joshna defeated Noor Ul Huda Sadiq in 13 minutes, winning 11-2, 11-5, and 11-7.

Marcus Phua was easily defeated by Abhay Singh in three games, 11-7, 11-7, 11-7, giving India a commanding victory before their match against Qatar later on Tuesday.
Also included in India's group are Pakistan, Kuwait, and Nepal. Ghosal's team won bronze in the previous competition.
After taking home the gold in 2014, the team is aiming for the top of the podium.
On Wednesday, the men's team will take on Pakistan in Pool A. Unlike the unfair competition between the ladies, this match ought to be more competitive.
