Barcelona and Mallorca tied 2-2 in a La Liga matchup.

Barcelona is still unblemished this season, but their five-game La Liga winning streak was snapped after a wild 2-2 draw against Mallorca on Tuesday night at Son Moix. Although they performed better in the second half against a Mallorca team that worked extremely hard to earn their share of the points, Barça couldn't finish with all three points due to a terrible first half in which they created many of their own issues.

Barça got the ball moving quickly and aggressively early in the game, attempting to confuse the Mallorca defence with passes of varying lengths. It took Mallorca less than 10 minutes to score the game's first goal thanks to a self-inflicted injury after Marc-André ter Stegen's poor pass in his own area caused a scramble and fell to striker Vedat Muriqi all by himself in the six-yard box. This gave Mallorca the lead before they could even start applying real pressure.

The hosts of Mallorca were now even more intent on causing as much difficulty as they could on the counter if they could frustrate the visitors, making them even more focused on doing so. Barça gave themselves the harsh task of trying to create openings within an already tight defence that had a lead to maintain.

Barça struggled to create any serious opportunities despite having a lot of possession in the first half, resorting to a few frantic and pointless crosses that helped Mallorca. It seemed like one of those evenings where nothing would go the Blaugrana's way.

But towards the end of the period, there were two signs of life: the first came from an incredible solo run by Gavi, who then found Ferran Torres one-on-one with the custodian, but Predrag Rajkovic made a very good save to deny the Barça forward; the second resulted in a significant equaliser just before halftime as Raphinha chased down the ball after a tackle on Joao Cancelo and fired a gorgeous low shot into the bottom corner to.

The plan for the beginning of the second half was fairly obvious: Barça would dominate the ball and send a lot of players forward in an effort to score an immediate equaliser, while Mallorca would try to take advantage of any opportunity to counterattack. Joo Félix blasted a rocket from outside the box after 10 minutes into the game, but it struck the post. The Blaugrana got off to a good start.

Shortly after, Robert Lewandowski came off the bench to try and give the visitors more offensive firepower. Xavi Hernández then trusted two young players to affect the game as Fermn López and Lamine Yamal were introduced along with a formation change as Barça searched for a way back.

When Yamal was brought down in the area after José Copete attempted to tackle him, the referee initially pointed to the spot, but the penalty decision was later rightly overturned after a VAR review.

Barça had 20 minutes plus stoppage time to find a way to salvage points away from home, and even though they did a good job moving the ball in the middle and finding themselves in dangerous situations, they consistently missed the final pass and wasted the crucial pass or cross that would have unlocked the Mallorca defence.

However, with 15 minutes remaining, the Blaugrana made a breakthrough. Raphinha assisted, Lewandowski made a beautiful dummy, and Fermn finished perfectly to score his first goal for the team and give Barça a serious chance to score a late winner.

Barça had the majority of the ball in the final minutes but failed to produce a true game-winning opportunity despite seven minutes of stoppage time. Mallorca were pleased with a draw and battled very hard to prevent a serious chance.

A chaotic night at Son Moix came to an end with the sound of the final whistle, as Barça was unable to pull off another late miracle following yet another underwhelming effort. However, a point on Mallorca is still significant, and Barça played well enough to improve on their performance in the second half. Barça will be alright moving forward if they stop shooting themselves in the foot.
