Ben Stokes will miss the 2024 IPL season to have knee surgery.

Ben Stokes, an all-rounder for England, will miss the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) to have knee surgery, dealing a severe blow to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) before of the competition.

Stokes, who CSK paid Rs 16.25 crore for in the 2022 auction, has been hampered by a knee injury in recent months. He was unable to participate in the most of the 2023 IPL season and was also disqualified from England's recent tour of the West Indies.

The 31-year-old has chosen to have knee surgery, which will prevent him from competing in the 2024 IPL. For CSK, who hoped to have Stokes back in their lineup for the upcoming season, this is a big setback.

Stokes is a top-tier bowler as well as one of the most destructive batsman in the world. In the 2024 IPL, he would have been a crucial player for CSK, therefore losing him will be a significant loss.

CSK has not yet revealed who will join the team to take Stokes' place. They may, however, search for an all-rounder who can bowl a few innings and bat at the top of the order.

The IPL 2024 is expected to take place from March to May. By the end of the year, just in time for England's trip to Australia, Stokes is anticipated to be back in the game.
