Retaining his world No. 1 ranking and winning a 25th Grand Slam are still goals for Novak Djokovic. After defeating No. 30 seed Lorenzo Musetti of Italy 7-5, 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 on Court Philippe Chatrier, the 37-year-old Serb moved up to the fourth round of the French Open, level with Roger Federer atop the all-time majors win list at 369. In the end, it took Djokovic four hours and twenty-nine minutes to win his fourth Roland Garros championship.

Two hours later than planned, the match started at slightly after 10:30 p.m. local time and ended at 3:08 a.m. It was the second-longest match of the French Open this year and the most recent conclusion in Roland Garros history.

The spectators made a difference, Djokovic remarked on the court. This is the reason I'm speaking in French. It's amazing that you persisted. Even many of the children who ought to be sleeping are present. Going to bed is going to be difficult. I'm running on pure adrenaline. But let's head to bed now! On Monday night, Djokovic, who has improved to 36-10 in five-setters at the majors, will take on Francisco Cerúndolo, ranked No. 23. Three years prior, Musetti retired in the fifth set, forcing Djokovic to come back from a two-set deficit to win in the fourth round.
