Best blowing figure for Mitchel Santner in odi world cup

Mitchell Santner's first five-wicket haul of the World Cup helped New Zealand beat the Netherlands by 99 runs in Hyderabad on Monday.

Santner was the standout bowler, bringing up his first five-wicket haul in this World Cup and his second five-wicket haul in his ODI career with outstanding statistics of 10-0-59-5.

Santner, a left-arm spinner, outdid Mohammad Siraj's 4/46 against New Zealand earlier this year by taking the wickets of Max O'Dowd, Ackermann, Scott Edwards, Roelof van der Merwe, and Ryan Klien to become the first bowler to claim a five-wicket haul at this location.

Match summary

In the sixth match of the World Cup 2023, New Zealand cruised to victory after posting a stout record of 322/7 on a sluggish track at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. This was New Zealand's second consecutive win in the tournament.

Vikramjit Singh and Bas de Liede, who both scored fifties against Pakistan, once again play well  for the Netherlands to chase down the total. Batting all-rounder Colin Ackerman played a solitary knock of 69 off 73 balls in middle order, which saw Netherlands bowled out for 223 in 46.3 overs despite struggles from their top batsmen.

While earlier, New Zealand record a respectable total, Will Young, Ravindra, and Tom Latham all produced stunning half-centuries. The New Zealand top order was put to the test by the Netherlands bowlers when they were asked to bat first.

The New Zealand batsmen adapted to the slowness of the surface and completed their innings almost perfectly, against England where the chase was dominated. After Ravindra scored a century in the World Cup opener, Young and Ravindra shared a 77-run partnership for the second wicket.

New Zealand relied on strike rotation and rare boundaries to score six runs per over in the middle overs. Young was dismissed by van Meekeren, who dismissed Ravindra soon after van der Merwe found an edge and Edwards took the catch.

However, Daryl Mitchell and Latham kept the Black Caps in control with a 53-run stand. The total was increased by Santner's cameo of 17 balls and 36 runs.
