Rio champion Ayana and world medalist Ebenyo will lead the field at the Delhi half marathon.

The 18th running of the race, which has featured winners like marathon world record holder and two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge, features two runners who are likely to strive for quick times in Ebenyo and Ayana.

Daniel Ebenyo, 2023 World 10000m Silver Medalist, and Almaz Ayana, 2022 Women's 10000m Olympic Champion, will be the favourites in the 2022 Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon on October 15. On Wednesday, a press conference in New Delhi revealed the pair's involvement.

The 18th running of the race, which has featured winners like marathon world record holder and two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge, features two runners who are likely to strive for quick times in Ebenyo and Ayana.

The 28-year-old Ebenyo will run in his first half marathon since finishing second in the 10000m at the Budapest World Championships. This will be his second half marathon of the season. He enters with a season-best of 59.52, but he wants to get as near as possible to his previous best of 59.04, which he set in December of the previous year.

Ebenyo will be especially self-assured. Ebenyo has recently been competing over longer distances after two rather dismal years in which he placed 10th at the Olympics and then sixth at the Worlds in Eugene in the 5000m.

He is currently having one of his greatest seasons in his international career, which was highlighted with a silver medal at Budapest, his first medal at the Worlds. The change has been for the better.

In contrast to Ayana, who is preparing for her second world championship after winning the 5000m in 2015 and the 10000m in 2017, Ebenyo will be vying for his maiden victory in New Delhi.

The half marathon in Delhi has previously been won by the now-31-year-old in 2017. Of course, that race was one of her last before taking a three-year sabbatical during which she gave birth to a child and dealt with injuries.
