In order to go to the final of the upcoming Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, the Indian Men's 4x100m Medley Relay Team broke the previous record.
After placing fourth overall in the heats with a time of 3:40.84s, the team advanced to the final. Tanish George Matthew, Sajan Prakash, Likith Selvaraj, and Srihari Nataraj made up the team. Later on Tuesday, the Indian squad will compete in the men's 4x100-meter medley relay final.
While beating the previous record, which was established at the 2018 Asian Games, the Indian team still came in 6.04 seconds behind the leaders, China.
Palak Joshi, who finished 14th in the women's 200-meter backstroke preliminaries with a time of 2:25:81, was unable to proceed to the final. Shivangi Sarma didn't make it to the final after finishing seventh in her heat and 17th overall in the women's 100m freestyle with a time of 58.31.
Srihari Nataraj had earlier advanced to the men's 50-meter backstroke final, but he placed sixth in the gold round. In his second final in as many days, Nataraj set a time of 25.39 seconds. On Sunday, Nataraj also placed sixth in the men's 100-meter backstroke final.
Likith Selvaraj competed at the Aquatic Sports Arena at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre and finished seventh in the men's 100m breaststroke final. He finished with a better time of 1:01.62 seconds than his previous time of 1:01.98 seconds.
Aryan Nehra, Aneesh Gowda, Kushagra Rawat, and Tanish George Mathew of India's men's 4x200m freestyle team also advanced to the final. Their efforts led to a time of 7:29.23 seconds and a seventh-place finish.
This year, India is sending a swimming team to the Asian Games that includes 12 men and 9 women.
