Arsenal VS Tottenham

The first North London derby of the 2023–24 Premier League season will take place on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium when Arsenal hosts Tottenham Hotspur.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to state that history is largely on Arsenal's side considering the last league victory for Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium occurred in November 2010. As a result, Mikel Arteta, the head coach of the Arsenal, has never suffered a Premier League defeat at the Emirates versus Spurs.

Both teams from North London have 13 points going into the game, although Spurs is higher in the standings in second place thanks to a better goal differential. In fourth place is Arsenal.

Arsenal and Spurs are on equal footing going into the match because both sides have had a strong start to the Premier League season and have yet to lose. It intensifies the anticipated tactical conflict between Arteta and Ange Postecoglou, the head coach of Tottenham.

following up on the previous season

Last season, Arsenal felt it would finally end its Premier League drought and win England's national championship for the first time since 2004. Manchester City overtook the Gunners and won the title, but a decline in performance towards the end prevented them from doing so.
Despite Arteta's defeat, the young Arsenal team displayed a number of encouraging traits. Arteta appears to be continuing the work he began the previous season of laying a strong foundation with a core group of players.

The Gunners defeated Nottingham Forest 2-1 to open the Premier League season, and they then defeated Crystal Palace by a similar result.

While there was a small blip in the 2-2 draw with Fulham, Arteta's team got back on track with a commanding 3-1 triumph over Manchester United. The Gunners defeated Everton 1-0 to keep their winning streak going.

Arsenal enters the encounter against Tottenham after a strong showing in the Champions League, where the Gunners defeated PSV Eindhoven 4-0 to mark their return to Europe's top club competition.

As Arsenal gets ready to face its local rivals, supported well at home, there should be plenty of morale in the team.

Rebuilding is a huge undertaking.

Postecoglou does not enjoy the comfort of familiarity that Arteta does. He is at a new club, unlike Arteta, and is tasked with rebuilding Tottenham following the team's catastrophic season last year.

Tottenham placed seventh last year, which means the London club won't be playing in Europe this year, which could be advantageous for the organisation.

Postecoglou has done well under the circumstances to steer the rudderless ship and has already succeeded in ensuring that his squad has a great start to the season. It was going to be difficult with star forward Harry Kane leaving for Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, but Tottenham has handled it effectively under Postecoglou's guidance.

Although Tottenham's season began with a 2-2 draw against Brentford, Postecoglou did not enjoy a perfect start. However, any concerns about Tottenham falling behind were allayed with a 2-0 victory over Manchester United, when the London club was superior in every way.
Tottenham has won three straight games since that time.

It had relatively simple victories over Bournemouth and Burnley—2-0 and 5-2, respectively—but the game against Sheffield United attracted everyone's attention.

Having conceded a goal in the 73rd minute, Postecoglou’s side looked like it was headed for its first defeat against the Blades. But two goals in the eighth and tenth minute of second-half additional time by Richarlison and Dejan Kulusevski guided Tottenham to a dramatic win and ensured its unbeaten status in the league this season. With both teams high on confidence, Sunday’s North London derby has all the signs of becoming a Premier League classic.
