After a successful debut in the Bundesliga, Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko grew weary of Erling Haaland comparisons.

On September 3, eko recorded his first Bundesliga goals by tallying two goals as Leipzig defeated Union Berlin 3-0, snapping Union's 24-game league-long home winning streak.

After a successful debut in the Bundesliga, Slovenian forward Benjamin Sesko grew weary of Erling Haaland comparisons.

Benjamin Sesko, a forward for Slovenia, is sick of being compared to Erling Haaland.

However, those similarities are fairly inescapable. Both 6-foot-4 forwards began their professional careers with the Austrian team Salzburg before switching to German teams. Sesko joined Salzburg's sister club Leipzig this summer, while Haaland first played for Borussia Dortmund before going on to Manchester City last year.

In an online call with journalists on Monday, 20-year-old Sesko remarked, "I previously said that I'm my own player. "Obviously, height is the one thing we have in common. Additionally, despite the fact that we both play quickly, our styles of play generally differ.

Sesko scored two goals in Leipzig's 3-0 victory over Union Berlin on September 3, snapping Union's 24-game home winning streak in the league. He also secured Leipzig's winning start in the Champions League by scoring the game-winning goal against Young Boys. These goals marked Sesko's first in the Bundesliga.

The following opponent in that competition is Man City, so there will be more opportunities for comparisons after Haaland returns to Germany.

"This is being compared to one of the top players in the entire world. So, drawing comparisons is difficult," Sesko added. "I don't want to make comparisons to other people. Simply being myself and being my best self would make me happy.

Sesko is now doing a good job. In 22 games for Slovenia, he has already scored seven goals. In the 4-2 victory over Northern Ireland in European Championship qualification on September 7, he scored one goal and assisted on two others.

In the Austrian league last year, he scored 16 goals.

Zlatan Ibrahimovi, another towering striker who had a successful career at some of Europe's top clubs, including Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain, served as an inspiration to Sesko when he was a young player.

I simply adored staring at him. On the pitch, he was having fun and making jokes. He was carrying out his own wishes, according to Sesko. "And when I see that kind of player like him, it really makes me happy."

Sesko reportedly turned down the opportunity to sign with Manchester United and other Premier League clubs in favour of Leipzig.

Sesko said of the trade, which reportedly cost Leipzig 24 million euros ($25.5 million), "I just think it was best for me to come here. After the transfer was approved last year, he stayed with the Austrian squad for an additional season before heading to Leipzig this summer.

Leipzig, which has won four of its first five Bundesliga games this year, will face Bayern Munich on Saturday. Bayern is unbeaten in the league and will be eager to upset one of its closest rivals in recent seasons to extend its run of Bundesliga titles to 12 in a row. The club already defeated Bayern 3-0 in the mostly ceremonial German Super Cup in August.

Sesko thinks Leipzig, which has won the last two German Cup championships, can threaten Bayern's league-leading domination.

"The onus is all on us. We must provide. We must prove our ability to prevail in the games. There are definitely many games. Because games take place every third or fourth day, we must simply give every game our all. However, as I have mentioned, I think we have a strong opportunity this year because of our strong team.

Sesko loves basketball and still plays it for fun when he's not playing football.

I was already getting dressed after football when I decided to go play some basketball because I just adore it. Sesko stated, "simply throwing the hoop is one of the finest things to do. I still do it for me, simply in my own time.
