Olympic wrestling silver medalist Ravi Dahiya's bid for a spot on the Asian Games team came to an abrupt end on Sunday at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi when he was eliminated from the trials by the underdog Atish Todkar.

Todkar started the match 4-6 down against Dahiya, but he brilliantly recovered to push the lead to an ultimately insurmountable 20-8. Todkar consistently avoided Ravi's attacks by scurrying out from beneath his arms and turning around for takedowns. This was Dahiya's first game following the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL) tears in his right knee that forced him out of play.

Sarita Mor and Anshu Malik, who both won medals in the global championships, did not advance to the women's division.

Mansi Ahlawat, who won the bronze medal at the junior world championships, defeated Sito and other junior wrestlers to win the classification after Sarita lost in the semifinal to him.

The 53kg division was dominated by Antim Panghal, the 2022 U-20 world champion, before Manju was pinned in the final. The 19-year-old will, however, have to serve as Vinesh Phogat's backup.
